HoR Passes Key Ordinances on Economy and Governance

Kathmandu: The House of Representatives (HoR) has passed two significant ordinances aimed at economic reforms and governance enhancement through a majority vote.

Economic Procedures Ordinance Approved
The Economic Procedures and Financial Responsibility (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2081 was endorsed after Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel tabled the proposal. A disapproval motion by RSP lawmaker Dr. Swornim Wagle was rejected.

Minister Paudel assured that the ordinance does not diminish the roles of the National Planning Commission and Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission. He also expressed confidence that Nepal will be removed from the FATF grey list within two years.

Good Governance and Public Service Ordinance Endorsed
The Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts related to Good Governance Promotion and Public Service Delivery, 2081 BS was also passed. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, on behalf of PM KP Sharma Oli, defended the ordinance as crucial for economic progress and effective public service delivery.

He highlighted that the amendments:

-Enhance e-governance for efficient service delivery.
-Facilitate NRN investments in Nepal.
-Strengthen health insurance services for citizens.
Minister Gurung urged lawmakers to unanimously support the ordinance, emphasizing that it was introduced under constitutional authority to serve national interests.



New
